Frequently asked questions.

Fast minutes are for everyday single-speaker cloud transcription where low latency matters. Premium minutes are for accuracy-sensitive work and recordings that need speaker separation, such as meetings, interviews, and calls.
Your recording history, audio files, and transcriptions are stored locally on your device. Cloud minutes affect processing, not where your saved history lives.
Yes. If you are comfortable designing your own prompts, you can set up custom modes for personal workflows. Custom AI workflows are included across the current plans.
Cloud transcription needs an internet connection. Local models can run on your machine if your setup supports them.
For smaller local models, plan for roughly 1.5-2 GB of available RAM, and ideally use a modern graphics card for smoother performance. Parakeet works fine on CPUs but for Whisper Turbo you need a supported GPU to get usable performance. Please keep in mind that local models process your audio on your device, but they can make more mistakes than cloud models depending on the language, audio quality, and use case, such as casual speech versus work-related terminology.
Parakeet 0.6B and Whisper Large V3 Turbo Q5.
No, not for subscription cloud minutes. BYOK is available for technical users who want to connect their own supported providers. Lifetime licenses rely on local models or you bringing your own API key (BYOK) and are intended for those who know how to set that up properly.
Yes. DirektText helps you get from speech to a useful draft faster, but you should still review important text before sending, publishing, or storing it.
